About Humboldt
Humboldt is your outsourced sustainability function. We do the sustainability reporting that European mid-market companies can’t ignore and don’t have the team to handle: carbon footprints, internal reports, target tracking, and the questionnaires and ratings your customers ask for, delivered finished and expert-signed.
We’re named after Alexander von Humboldt, who saw the natural world as one connected system. We take the same view of your sustainability data: gather it once, and use it to answer everything the market asks of you.
We’re an EU company and we’re working with a small group of companies, across industries, as our first clients.
Founders
A team, not a tool
Humboldt is built by three cofounders mapping one to one onto the work: the expert who signs, the engineer who builds, and go-to-market. The same people are accountable for what we deliver.

Peter van der Reijden
Cofounder and CEO
Peter leads go-to-market and works across the product build. He founded We Are Robin, helping sustainability leaders and teams scale their efforts, and is pursuing a PhD on ethics in the boardroom. His focus is keeping Humboldt honest: real deadlines met, every answer traceable to a source.

Renske Prins
Cofounder, Engineering
Renske has spent years building sustainability products and is pursuing a PhD on using AI for ESG data. At Humboldt she builds the grounded production line that drafts sustainability and compliance work for expert review, with every figure traced back to its source.

Wouter Staal
Cofounder, ESG sign-off
Wouter is Humboldt’s first signer, one of ten SBTi-certified experts in the Netherlands. He founded Yoghurt Barn and led its shift to plant-based yoghurt to cut the emissions he had calculated himself. At Humboldt he personally reviews and signs every deliverable before it reaches a client, across CSRD and ESRS, EcoVadis and CDP.
