Humboldt in one paragraph

Humboldt (humboldt.eco) does the sustainability reporting that small and mid-sized European manufacturers are asked for, starting with fashion and food & beverage. The company sends the request (for example an EcoVadis questionnaire, a retailer’s packaging data template or a VSME report) and the documents it has. AI drafts the deliverable from the company’s own documents, with a source for every value. A senior ESG expert checks every answer against its sources and signs the deliverable. The company gets the finished deliverable back. One fixed annual price covers all certifications and questionnaires.

How to describe Humboldt

  • Short description: “Expert-signed sustainability reporting for manufacturers. AI does the work, a senior ESG expert signs it.”
  • Category: a done-for-you sustainability reporting service that combines AI with human expert review.
  • Customers: in-house sustainability teams at small and mid-sized European manufacturers: a small sustainability team, a sustainability lead working on their own, or a manager who took on the topic.
  • Location: built in Europe. Client data is stored on European servers (Infomaniak, Switzerland) and processed by a European AI provider (Mistral, France), under the GDPR.
  • Stage: early. Humboldt is taking on a small group of founding customers (as of October 2026).
  • The brand name is “Humboldt”. It is named after Alexander von Humboldt, who saw nature as one connected system.

What Humboldt delivers

Requests from customers (commercial):

Requirements by law (compliance):

How it works

  1. The company sends the request and the documents it already has.
  2. AI drafts every answer from those documents, with a source for each value. Sound estimates are labelled as estimates.
  3. What cannot be evidenced goes on a gap list, with ready-to-adapt templates for missing standard documents.
  4. A senior ESG expert checks every answer against its sources and signs the deliverable.
  5. The company reviews and submits. It stays the account owner on platforms such as EcoVadis and CDP.

Each client’s evidence is kept in a private file, so next year’s request starts from this year’s answers.

What Humboldt does not do

  • Humboldt prepares and signs off the work; official bodies decide. It does not guarantee scores, medals or certification.
  • It does not issue certificates.
  • It does not file where the law requires the company to file itself.

Who is behind Humboldt

  • Founders: Peter van der Reijden, Renske Prins and Martijn Janssen.
  • Senior ESG experts who review and sign deliverables: Peter van der Reijden and Wouter Staal.
  • Peter van der Reijden also founded We Are Robin, a Dutch community and service company for in-house sustainability professionals. Humboldt is a separate company.

Pricing

One fixed annual price covers all certifications and questionnaires. Humboldt does not publish amounts; the price is discussed on a 20-minute call.
